We Sing! (100th post)
This is my 100th blog post! Wow, I must have too much to say! :-)
My dad's side of the family has a great, and I think rare, tradition. We sing together! Pretty much any time we gather at Aunt Pat's house (used to be Grandma & Grandpa's house), we break out the songbooks and have a little worship service. This tradition goes back as far as I can remember. Each family member has "their song". Cousin Jim's is "I'll Fly Away", mine is "Living by Faith". Other favorites include "Kneel at the Cross", "I Walk With the King", "The Gospel is for All (Lauri)", and "Victory in Jesus" among many others.
The stack of songbooks are of varying years and publishers, so as we flip through them and find a song that we want to sing, you'll hear, "In the green book, it's number 311", then another will call out the song's number in the maroon book, etc.
I might be old-fashioned, but I wish there were a recording of old church songs from the songbook that I could buy and sing along with. I really like the new songs, but I miss the old songs, too.
It's special to me that I have a family that worships God together in this way. I loved seeing Todd hold Logan and Annie holding Nathan as my babies experienced this for the first time. Does anyone else have a family that does this or something like it? What are your family traditions? Do you have any traditions that bring your family together to be with God?

Natalie,
What a wonderful and special family tradition! Brian's mom's side of the family always sings while his Uncle Leland plays the piano every time we all get together.
I read your comments and first of all, thank you so much for your sweet words! It means so much to hear that I could possibly inspire another mother! We are taking each day as it comes and enjoying our blessings! As far as the Window Live Writer problem, I didn't have that happen to me. I remember that the installer asked LOTS of questions about preferences and I am wondering if when you made your selections something got jumbled up along the way? I didn't change anything in Blogger, I just followed the install guide and made my choices as it promted me. I would probably un-install and try to re-install it and see what happens. Also make sure that your computer has everything that Windows Live Writer needs to operate. My last tip would be to make sure that you have all of your Windows updates current. I am so sorry that it's not being nice =( I promise if you get it to cooperate it's all worth it! Live Writer has made posting blogs so much easier and faster, especially uploading pictures! Please email me anytime if you have ANY questions - ianaham{at}yahoo{dot}com -Nathan and Logan are getting so big and they're adorable!
We don't do anything like this. But, River has grown up listening to Acapella and singing right along. And yes, I do believe you can get recordings of the old church songs. I think the Harding choir had CD's out and Keith Lancaster has put out some CD's with the old songs sung by alot of people so it sounds more like congregational singing. That one is cool because they also have the CD setup where you can hear the parts and learn to sing the different parts. Fun to see the picture of Annie on your blog. Didn't see y'all at church this morning. Hope everyone is feeling well.
Iana,
I still can't get it to work. I'll have to steal some time away to work with it some more. I know it will be fantastic to use if I can figure out the problem. Thanks so much for the advice. I'm going to eventually have to break down and upgrade my computer. I got a HD camcorder and my little computer won't be able to handle much playing around with videos, I'm sure.
Shannon,
I'll check into those CDs. This morning was kinda weird. The babies got off schedule really early this morning. I set my alarm when I got back in bed to get us up in time to make it to church, but apparently I set it wrong... It never went off. (It's been a while since I've set it:-) I really feel BAD because I missed my nursery duty!!! Ugh! We were there tonight, though. I took Nathan to the nursery to calm him down (hiccups) and the poor ladies in there thought I was dropping him off! I assured them I was not doing that.
